ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (abbreviated as ACM-ICPC or just ICPC) is an annual multi-tiered competitive programming competition among the universities of the world. The contest is sponsored by IBM. Headquartered at Baylor University, with autonomous regions on six continents, the ICPC is directed by Baylor Professor William B. Poucher, Executive Director, and operates under the auspices of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).


To qualify for world finals, a team (team of  3 is allowed) has to win the ACM ICPC Regional Contest which are held all over the world. Last year in 2014, for the first time Lahore was declared as a region for the ACM ICPC and NUCES – ACM were declared as hosts  for the mega event. Students of batch 2010, Muhammad Ali and Anas Khurshid helped FAST to host this spectacular event under the banner of NUCES-ACM.

ACM ICPC Asia Regional Lahore was one of the biggest events hosted by NUCES ACM and this year it was under the supervision of NUCES ACM Executive Team 2014/15 who personally lead the team for the event and executed it perfectly, following all the international standards. International teams visited FAST-NU for the first time after 2006 to participate in ACM ICPC Asia Regional Lahore held at Lahore Campus of FAST National University. Dr. Umer Suleman (Associate Professor of Computer Science FAST – NU) was the director of ICPC Lahore Regional.

The Lahore Regional consisted of two rounds. An online round in which around 200 teams participated and an on site round in which about 75 qualifying teams took part.

The on site round consisted of a full dress rehearsal before the actual competition. The competition went smoothly and the contest decided the winner following all the international rules and standards outlined by ACM ICPC.
